Video reveals unannounced MacBook Pro with M4 chip

Russian YouTuber Valentin Petukhov posted a video on his Wylsacom channel claiming to have acquired a 14 inch MacBook Pro with an M4 chip that has yet to be announced.

Petukhov started the video bragging about the M4 MacBook Pro that Apple has yet to announce, and Petukhov did not mention how he got it.

Petukhov then took the box and first of all took a marker and crossed out the serial number of the device so that no one would know where it came from, and showed the back of the box, where it was written that it was a 512GB version with 16GB of RAM.

He mentioned that this version is not available on Apple’s official website yet. The latest version on Apple’s website is a MacBook with an M3 chip and 8GB of RAM.

Petukhov continued reading the box information and mentioned that there are 10 cores in the CPU, and another 10 cores in the GPU.

As for the color of the MacBook Pro, there was no writing or sign indicating the color except for the large picture of the device on the box, which was black.

Petukhov began to open the box and took out the MacBook Pro, which turned out to be black, but not completely. At some angle, it appeared black, and when looking directly at it, it would be the traditional color known with the Apple logo.

Then he moved on to the accessories and said, I understand that in this generation we will not see anything new, that is, no new designs. It is the same body of the device that we have seen for years with the same explosion.

The first accessory that Petukhov examined was the black USB-C cable, followed by the included charger, which was white. Here he said sarcastically, I see that it is white again, but why? I want it to be black with a wired color. I do not know what Apple designers were thinking when they chose these colors.

After finishing the accessories, Petukhov turned on the MacBook Pro and began to set up the device like any previous MacBook and finished it in short.

Then he moved directly to the comparison with the iPad and the most powerful M3 of all versions. He started testing the processors using the Geekbench website. The result of the MacBook Pro with the M3 chip was 2974 points for a single core and 20,881 points for multiple cores. While the iPad Pro got 3783 points for a single core and 14,712 points for multiple cores.

But for the new MacBook Pro with the M4 chip, the results were crazy, according to Petukhov, who achieved 3,864 points for single core and 15,288 for multi core.

If you compare with the M3, the gap is of course big, but it’s not crazy, Petukhov said. That’s why no sane person would upgrade a MacBook every year.

He also highlighted the MacBook with the M2 chip, which scored 24,336 points in the performance test compared to the M4 chip’s 38,153 points. He noted that the M3 Max chip scored 97,135 points in the performance test, outperforming both.

Petukhov advises MacBook owners with the M2 chip who want greater performance and more ports to upgrade to the new generation M4, as this will be suitable for them.

He mentioned that the M4 device will have three Thunderbolt 4 ports on the sides of the device, which is an additional advantage compared to the previous version, which had two ports.

Petukhov concluded his segment by criticizing Apple for not coming up with anything new and interesting, and that the versions come with the same design that he is tired of, with only the performance being different. He said, This update is definitely great, but we must move forward. It is true that this structure is new and not old, but we are tired of it. However, we hope for great updates in the future.
